Optimizing Office SharePoint Server 2007 with the F5 Application Ready Solution
An increasing number of global F5 customers are reporting significant performance optimizations when pairing Office SharePoint Server 2007 with the F5 Application Ready Solution.
“We made a significant investment in Office SharePoint Server 2007, and in reviewing the market’s offerings, it became obvious that F5 had the best collaboratively derived solution for optimizing Office SharePoint Server 2007 performance,” said Hillol Nath, Network & Security Architect at DP World, a leader in international marine terminal operations and development, logistics, and related services. “If employees were to experience poor performance with an enterprise application like Office SharePoint Server 2007, user abandonment would be high. F5’s Application Ready Solution ensures that we get top performance from Office SharePoint Server 2007 so our employees can take full advantage of a collaborative environment.”
Key benefits of deploying the F5 Application Ready Solution with Office SharePoint Server 2007 include:
5x acceleration of Office SharePoint Server 2007 performance
20-30x bandwidth reduction for remote Office SharePoint Server 2007 users
Over 25% server capacity increases with SSL and compression offload
33% reduction in application deployment time
“We chose F5 because we wanted to be sure of compatibility between Microsoft solutions and our application delivery infrastructure,” said Jeremy Cointin, Senior Network and Security Analyst at Rotary International, an Illinois-based humanitarian service organization supporting more than 33,000 clubs in approximately 200 countries and geographical areas. “After a thorough evaluation process, we found that F5 devices enable us to perform server maintenance while ensuring the vital website uptime our global users depend on. In addition, by using the F5 BIG-IP® Local Traffic Manager™ Application Delivery Controller to increase the processing power of our web servers, we’re now able to redirect those funds to other IT initiatives.”
“As organizations build out their infrastructures to meet the changing needs of their business, they frequently deploy Microsoft’s unified communications technologies to increase collaboration,” said Jim Ritchings, VP of Business Development at F5. “With Application Ready Solutions, customers can more confidently introduce new applications-and optimize the performance of those applications-to improve business agility.”
